Travel students have been creating Christmas magic for 7 years 

North Lindsey College students have been creating a Christmas adventure for the Children at St Bernadette’s Catholic Voluntary Academy for seven years.

The latest successful adventure saw 37 children arrive at the College to embark on a mock flight to Lapland on the College’s real-life plane. They were served by the Cabin Crew students on their make-believe adventure to see Father Christmas.

The excited children embraced the celebrations with their pretend passports in tow and also got involved in some Christmas activities during their visit.

Hayley Fenwick (Teacher at St Bernadette’s Catholic Primary Voluntary Academy) said, “Another fantastic Christmassy morning enjoyed by all the Early Years children from St. Bernadette’s. The travel students from North Lindsey have now been entertaining our children with a Lapland Experience every year for the last 7 years. Each year is just as exciting, very well organised and entertaining for the children.”

The travel students study events management as part of their course module programme and this activity is designed support them in developing their leadership skills and building their confidence.

Sophie Robinson (Level 2 Cabin Crew student) was based in the air cabin for the event and said, “I enjoyed doing the event as it brings the smiles out on the children’s faces. They believed they were going on a real flight as we tried to make it as realistic as we could. It makes me want to go into the industry by knowing I have put a smile on people’s faces by giving them the best service, as cabin crew are the start of any holiday. I enjoy making people feel welcome and comfortable.”

Kayleigh Grierson (Curriculum Leader in Travel, Business and Catering) said, “This is our 7th year running our annual Lapland Event for St Bernadettes and we love doing it every year. The children had the amazing experience on flying to Lapland on our air cabin layout, meeting Santa in his Grotto, having a story with Mrs Claus and completing arts and crafts in Santas Workshop. It was a fantastic day had by all. The smiling faces on the children’s faces are what Christmas is all about.”
