Former Student Appointed Group Principal

Posted: January 28, 2026

North Lindsey College is celebrating the appointment of former student Danny Fenwick as Group Principal of DN Colleges Group; a full-circle moment that highlights the power of education to transform lives and create future leaders.

Danny’s journey began at North Lindsey College, where he studied Business after leaving Vale of Ancholme School. What started as a local choice for further study has, 18 years later, culminated in his appointment as Group Principal.

After initially working across sectors including construction and the motor trade, Danny made a pivotal decision at the age of 25 to pursue a career with long-term impact. He returned to education at University Campus North Lincolnshire (formerly The University Centre), achieving a First-Class Honours degree in Social Science. This marked the start of his teaching career, delivering Higher Education provision and supporting Social Science students to progress into their own futures.

Since then, Danny has progressed through a wide range of roles across Further and Higher Education, including Lecturer, Curriculum Leader, Director, Assistant Principal, and most recently, Deputy Principal, which reflects both his personal commitment to education and DN Colleges Group’s focus on developing leadership from within.

Reflecting on his journey, Danny said: “Success is rarely a solo venture, and that is absolutely true in my case. Over the past 18 years, I’ve had the privilege of working with so many colleagues who have supported me, challenged me, developed me and shaped the leader I am today. I’ve also made mistakes and experienced setbacks along the way, but these moments are vital for growth and learning.”

Alongside his professional responsibilities, Danny has continued to invest in his own development, completing a range of qualifications and leadership training, including a PGCE. Most recently, he successfully completed Oxford University’s prestigious Preparing for CEO programme, undertaken over two years.

Danny also paid tribute to the wider DN Colleges Group community, “Our College truly is a place of inspiration for our students. Every day I see the dedication, commitment, perseverance and care shown by our staff, and it is this collective effort that makes DN Colleges Group such a special place that genuinely changes lives.”

He added, “It is an absolute privilege to serve as Group Principal. I will work tirelessly alongside colleagues to support our staff and students and to ensure DN Colleges Group continues to be a place of inspiration. I am very much looking forward to the exciting times ahead.”

This appointment stands as a powerful example of what students can achieve through ambition, dedication and the opportunities provided by further education. For North Lindsey College, it is a proud reminder that today’s learners can become tomorrow’s leaders, shaping not only their own futures, but the future of education across the region.
