North Lindsey College Welcomes New Additions to Animal Care Facility

Posted: September 4, 2025

North Lindsey College’s Animal Management department has welcomed two new additions this summer; a pair of Royal Golden Guernsey goats named Otto and Finnagan.

Originally from an educational farm in Saffron Walden, where they were bottle-fed by school children and community visitors, the young goats are already proving to be a hit on campus and have adapted quickly to their new surroundings.

“Otto is super friendly and outgoing, whereas Finnagan is more reserved and calm – they balance each other out perfectly,” said Louise Davey, Team Leader within the Animal Management facility at North Lindsey College. “Our four resident Royal Goldens gave the two kids a warm welcome, and the dynamic of the group has gone from strength to strength ever since.”

Thanks to their early experiences with people and other animals, Otto and Finnagan successfully integrated into the college’s existing herd within hours of arrival. The two have been using the quieter summer days to explore their new home whilst enjoying head scratches, their climbing frame, and, unsurprisingly, snacking.

The expansion of the animal department is just one example of how North Lindsey College continues to grow and invest in the student experience. A brand-new £40 million main campus building is on track to open this month, offering state-of-the-art facilities including breakout spaces, modern classrooms, a large auditorium, dedicated SEND learning areas, a modern dining zone, and an on-site coffee shop.

As the College opens its doors to a new cohort of students, both human and animal residents are looking forward to a bright and exciting future on campus.
