Sound engineers combine their technical knowledge with creative thinking and an excellent ear to produce high-quality recorded or live sound for music, film, TV and events.

Entry Requirements
What You'll Need
- 4 GCSEs at Grade 3 ideally including English and Maths.
- No audition and no previous experience — beginners are welcome
- A genuine interest in creating electronic music and learning to produce
- Successful interview with our team, where we’ll talk through your interest and goals
If you haven't yet achieved Grade 4 in Maths or English, you'll keep working towards them alongside your course, built into your timetable.

What You'll Learn
From Your First Beat to a Finished Track.
This course is built around making real music. You’ll learn to use a Digital Audio Workstation (Logic Pro 11) to build tracks, create loops and patterns, and experiment with effects, synths and digital sounds. You’ll record a range of sounds, from Rap to sung vocals, using professional microphones, and learn to edit and arrange your audio like a working producer.
You’ll also learn to mix using effects and signal processors, and explore how music is actually produced in the electronic music industry. It’s practical, studio-based, and hands-on. You’ll finish the year with real production skills, a growing body of work, and a trip to a professional recording studio where you record your latest music.

A signed electronic music artist is a music producer or DJ who has inked a formal contract with a record label to distribute, market, and monetize their music. This career involves producing music, touring your music, marketing your music and working closely with an Indie or Major Record Label.
Sound Designer
Up to £90,000 /year
A career in sound design involves creating, manipulating, and engineering the auditory elements for various media, including films, video games, television, theatre, and podcasts. Sound designers act as acoustic storytellers, blending technical expertise with creative artistry to build the entire "sonic world" of a production
Product Specialist
Up to £85,000 /year
A Product Specialist in music technology acts as the primary bridge between a music tech brand's engineering team, its sales force, and the end-user musicians or producers. They are the ultimate in-house experts on specific gear or software.
