North Lindsey College is proud to announce that its catering department has once again been awarded a 5-star food hygiene rating by North Lincolnshire Council, maintaining this highest standard for an impressive 15 consecutive years.
The rating, the highest awarded under the Food Standards Agency scheme, reflects the College’s unwavering dedication to providing safe, high-quality food for students, staff, and visitors. It recognises outstanding performance in cleanliness, food handling, and management practices.
This recognition comes at an exciting time for North Lindsey College, with the opening of its new main campus building set for September 2025. The modern facility will feature a state-of-the-art catering space, including a daily themed counter that will feature an array of flavours from around the world. A second counter will provide more traditional meal choices, and a dedicated Starbucks area will serve a range of popular hot and cold drinks.
The recognition extends across the DN Colleges Group. University Campus North Lincolnshire (UCNL) has consistently held a 5-star rating since its catering facility opened. Doncaster College, also part of the DN Colleges Group, has maintained its 5-star status for the past 14 years, with the most recent inspection taking place in October 2024.
Karen Hooke, Catering Manager at North Lindsey College said: “Achieving and maintaining our 5-star rating is fantastic, and having all three of our locations recognised is truly amazing. It’s a result of my team’s commitment to their roles and their engagement in ongoing training. Catering is a constantly evolving industry; it’s far more complex than simply making sandwiches and pouring coffee. I’m endlessly proud of the team I work alongside. Each year brings new challenges, and I’m sure the year ahead will be no different.”
In addition to maintaining outstanding hygiene standards, North Lindsey College’s catering service is committed to affordability and enhancing the student experience. The College offers a variety of budget-friendly meal options, including themed lunches and daily breakfast specials. A standout initiative provides free breakfasts to the first 100 students through the door each morning: a popular offering that supports student wellbeing.
As the new academic year approaches and the new campus building prepares to open, North Lindsey College continues to deliver high standards, fresh opportunities, and an outstanding environment for students and staff alike.
