College invests thousands in new Esports course and specialised equipment

North Lindsey College has made a significant investment of thousands of pounds in brand-new equipment and facilities to support its exciting new Esports course, which launched this September.

The industry-recognised course has been designed to give students the skills, knowledge and confidence they need to succeed in the fast-growing world of esports, while providing valuable opportunities to develop skills that can lead to careers across the wider gaming and digital industries.

As part of the investment, the College has created a dedicated specialist Esports classroom, fully equipped with high-end, industry-standard gaming technology.

The new room has already made a strong impression on students. Archie Jollands, Level 2 Esports student, said, “The new esports room looks stunning. The overall setup feels professional and industry-standard, creating an environment that is both exciting and inspiring to work and play in. The high-quality equipment and modern design make it feel like a genuine competitive gaming space, while also providing an excellent environment for learning and developing new skills.

“I can’t wait to spend more time in there, make the most of everything it has to offer, and explore the opportunities available to help me pursue a career in the esports industry.”

The investment includes many purchases of brand new equipment including 180Hz curved monitors, AMD Ryzen motherboards, graphics cards, CPU coolers, RAM, gaming keyboards, gaming headsets and stands, gaming mats, and much more to create a professional environment in which students can learn, practise and develop their skills.

Zoe Slater (Curriculum Leader – Creative Arts & Digital Industries) said: “We are incredibly proud to launch our new Level 2 Esports programme and dedicated classroom. With significant investment in high-specification gaming facilities, students will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the exciting world of competitive gaming while developing the essential employability skills that employers value most, including teamwork, resilience, problem-solving and communication. Students will learn gaming strategies, professional streaming techniques and how to create and promote their own esports brand. Through competitions and tournaments, they will showcase their talents, build confidence and gain real-world experience in one of the fastest-growing industries in the world.”
