North Lindsey College welcomes more than 1,000 visitors to October Open Event

From specialist training facilities and a new Esports course to plans for a £2.5 million construction redevelopment, North Lindsey College showcased the opportunities available to students at its October Open Event.

More than 1,000 visitors attended North Lindsey College’s October Open Event on Tuesday 13th October, with families travelling from across North Lincolnshire and further afield, including Doncaster and Goole, to discover what the College has to offer.

The event welcomed 785 prospective students and their families, giving visitors the opportunity to meet tutors, explore specialist facilities and find out more about the College’s wide range of vocational courses, apprenticeships, adult learning opportunities and higher education programmes delivered through University Campus North Lincolnshire (UCNL).

Tutors and students demonstrated the facilities and training available in subjects including construction, motor vehicle, health and social care, education and early years, digital technologies, engineering, hair and beauty, animal management, business and sport, alongside many other areas.

Specialist facilities included the Engineering Technology Centre, hair and beauty salons and the Lindsey Building, home to the College’s all-electric catering kitchens, upgraded air cabin and dedicated SEND area, featuring a fully equipped apartment simulation.

The event also highlighted the College’s continued investment in its facilities and curriculum. Its recently launched Esports courses, supported by a specialist Esports suite, offering students the opportunity to develop skills in teamwork, communication, problem-solving, marketing, event planning and creative design, developing transferable skills across a range of industries.

Looking ahead, the College is also planning a £2.5 million redevelopment of its construction facilities, further demonstrating its commitment to providing learning environments that reflect the needs of industry and support local learners in developing valuable practical skills.

Alongside exploring course options, parents and prospective students could speak directly with tutors, learn more about the support available and find out about transport links, financial assistance, additional learning support and progression opportunities. Visitors also had the chance to explore the College’s central dining hall, coffee bar and Learning Resource Centre.

North Lincolnshire Council Mayor Janet Lee attended the event, meeting students and staff and learning more about the opportunities available at the College.

She said: “It was a pleasure to attend the Open Evening and see first-hand the wide range of opportunities available to young people and adult learners across our area. The enthusiasm of the staff and students was inspiring, and it was wonderful to learn more about the courses, apprenticeships and career pathways that are helping to develop the skills and talents of future generations. North Lindsey College plays a vital role in supporting education, aspiration and economic growth within North Lincolnshire, and I wish everyone considering their next step every success in their future studies and careers.”

For parents considering their children’s next steps, the opportunity to see the College in person also helped bring those choices to life.

Becky Claire, a parent who attended the event, said: “We arrived at North Lindsey College keen to explore the new premises. I was once a student at the college many years ago. I was impressed with the layout, the standard of the workspaces, and the informative staff, who chatted to us about the course. This experience made the decision of where my daughter wants to go a breeze.”

For anyone who missed the October Open Event, North Lindsey College’s next full Open Event will take place on Tuesday 19th January 2027, from 4.30pm to 7pm.
