I felt there was a lot of support at College from tutors and other staff. The course is the reason why I got a place at university. It prepared me and helped with completing assignments and referencing which made it easier at university. My placements gave me a greater understanding of what a job in health and social care could be like. It was the best decision I made in terms of my career pathway.
Amy, a previous Winterton Community Academy student, is now a fully qualified registered nurse and works in accident and emergency.
After finishing school, Amy enrolled on a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care and achieved an A grade, equivalent to three grade A’s at A Level. In her first year, Amy completed work experience at Emerald Care Services, a local care provider. She then went onto complete a work experience placement, working with children, on the Disney Ward at Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust.
