Technical Level 3 Certificate in Health and Social Care

Course Overview

The level 3 technical certificate provides learners with an in-depth knowledge of core subject areas in health and social care to support progression into Higher Education, the workplace or further learning in related subject areas. Learners will be required to attend placement in a real work environment to support their learning. The minimum required number of placement hours is 75 hours.

– Human growth and development
– Safeguarding in health and social care
– Communication in health and social care
– Infection prevention and control in health and social care
– Psychological perspectives in health and social care
– Sociological perspectives in health and social care
– Working in health and social care
– Reflective practice

We typically require maths and English GCSE grade at 4 or higher to enrol on the Technical Level 3 Certificate. Grade 4+ in a minimum of 3 other Level 2 subjects are an advantage but can be discussed at enrolment. Grade 4+ in a science may be an advantage if you are hoping to progress to university to study a health related programme.

Upon achievement of this qualification, students will be able to progress to the Technical Level 3 Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care, from which students will be able to access Higher Education and progress into a wide range of job roles within the health and social care sector. The Technical Certificate does not provide occupational competence or a licence to practise but learners could also progress directly to a wide range of supervised job roles within the health and social care sector. This could include: Care Support Workers in adult residential settings. Healthcare Assistants in Community, Primary Care and Acute Health Environments . Care Support Workers in Domiciliary Services, Supported Living or Day Services. Community-Based Support Workers.

The Technical Certificate is assessed primarily through coursework with one externally assessed assignment which is completed independently in exam conditions.
