Whether you’re starting out or looking to build your confidence, our Introduction to Becoming a Teaching Assistant course equips you with the knowledge and skills required to help you take the first steps toward a fulfilling role in education.
As part of this course, you will gain the following qualifications:
- Level 1 Award in Preparing to Work in Schools
- Level 1 Award in Infection Prevention and Control
- Entry Level 3 Award in Fundamental British Values
- Level 2 Award in Equality and Diversity
- Level 2 Award in Safeguarding and Protecting Children and Young People
- Level 2 Award Health and Safety in the Workplace
- Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering
As part of this course, you will also have the opportunity to attend an employer talk and gain some interview practice.
Learners will complete a portfolio of work and undertake two short exam papers.
Learners must:
- Be aged 19+ as of 31/08/2025
- Currently live in England
- Have resided in the EU/UK for 3+ years for purposes other than study
Not be enrolled on an apprenticeship
Upon completion of these qualifications, you could gain a role supporting students in schools.

- Introduction to Working with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) – Classroom
- Introduction to Autism – Classroom
- Level 2 Certificate in Awareness of Bullying in Children & Young People – Online
Level 2 Certificate in Allergy Awareness for those Working with Children – Online
