This course allows candidates to learn, develop and practise the skills required for employment and/or career progression in Bricklaying.
Our department boasts spacious, modern workshops tailored to each trade, designed to simulate real-life working conditions. Using industry- standard materials enriches the learning journey, ensuring hands-on experience that aligns with industry expectations.
We pride ourselves on strong partnerships with local construction employers, offering valuable work experience placements. Additionally, every student has the opportunity to apply for an apprenticeship in their chosen trade, setting them on a solid path towards a successful career in construction.
Units you may study include:
- Health, safety and welfare in construction
- Principles of building construction, information and communication
- Building solid walling, isolated and attached piers
- Interpreting working drawings to set out masonry structures
- Construct cavity walling forming masonry structures
Candidates must produce a portfolio of theory and practical evidence to support the qualification outcome.
Training will be carried out, once the candidate is ready for assessment, the units will be assessed under assessment conditions by the tutor to prove skills and knowledge in each topic
Progression from Level 1 or applications with prior experience or qualifications.
Progression routes include:
- Progression on to the Level 3 Diploma in Brickwork
- Apprenticeship
- Employment
