The perfect introduction to engineering, this Level 2 qualification will help you to progress onto a career in mechanical engineering. During the course you will develop your mechanical skills in preparation for a career in engineering.
Mandatory units include:
Engineering environment awareness
Engineering techniques
Engineering maths and science principles
Employability skills
Optional units (mechanical):
Fitting and assembly techniques
Manual turning techniques
60% Assessment – Coursework
40% Assessment – Exam
Ideally at least 4 GCSEs at grade 9-4 or grade A*-D or a Level 1 qualification in Engineering, but this is subject to discussion at your interview. If you haven’t already achieved a GCSE grade 5 or grade C in English or Maths, then you will study either GCSE or Functional Skills English or Maths alongside your other qualifications.
