Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning (Part Time)

The Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning a course for students aged 19+.

It is aimed at learners aiming to work in roles that support pupils’ learning in primary, secondary or special schools, as well as colleges. It is designed to provide students with an understanding of the knowledge and skills needed when working directly with children and young people in school or college environments.

It covers a wide range of areas including children and young people’s development, supporting children and young people’s positive behaviour and communication and professional relationships. It is aimed at students working in roles that support pupils’ learning in primary, secondary or special schools, as well as colleges.

Students will need to be working or on a practical placement for the duration of the course in a learning environment (school or college), as they need to show competence in both skills and knowledge.

    This is a part-time course over one year. Students are required to attend class for 2 hours per week in addition to work placement. Much of the coursework will therefore be completed independently away from the class environment.

Students can progress onto the Level 3 Diploma in Supporting Teaching and Learning (not currently offered at North Lindsey College), or directly into the workforce as a level 2 teaching assistant.
