ESOL courses are designed for non-native speakers of English to improve their language skills in order to cope with everyday life in the UK. You will improve your English to help you at work or to gain employment, develop your language skills for study purposes and prepare for an end of programme qualification.
You will study speaking and listening, reading and writing to improve your skills in: listening and responding, speaking to communicate, contributing effectively and engaging in discussions and improve your spelling, grammar and punctuation skills.
We offer both full and part-time courses and our highly experienced team will discuss the best options for you. Full-time courses are for 16-18 year olds, with the opportunity to go on trips and undertake work experience. The part-time provision is for adults, with a variety of classes running in the mornings, afternoon and evenings.
Please note, at the end of the online application form there is a question about the amount of time you have been in the UK and advised if it’s under 3 years to apply in person at the college, this is not now necessary, and the form is being updated. Please tick 3 years and continue with the form, a Status Check will be completed before you enrol.
Speaking and Listening classes enable learners to improve their skills in: Listening and responding, speaking to communicate, contributing effectively and engaging in discussions, following the gist and detail in verbal communication, improving pronunciation, expressing views and planning actions.
Reading classes enable learners to: read and understand, identify the purpose of a text and to read and obtain information.
Writing classes enable learners to write to communicate, present information in an appropriate format, structure their writing and to improve their spelling, grammar and punctuation skills.
All learners will need to complete an application which must be supported by evidence to confirm fee status, NASS letters, ARC card or passport. All learners must attend an interview and undertake an initial assessment and will then be offered a class at a suitable level.
