BA (Hons) Business and Management

Course Overview

The BA (Hons) Business and Management degree combines elements of accountancy, finance,
marketing, management and economics, and offers students the opportunity to develop the
critical-thinking, problem-solving and analytical skills needed to enter the competitive world
of business.

The Business and Management degree offers students the opportunity to advance their career
through professional development. Many of our academics have real organisation – life expertise,
with industry links that can benefit students by exposing them to current business thinking and the
latest developments in practices.

The first year introduces key elements of business, including economics, finance, marketing and
organisational behaviour. The second year builds on this foundation with modules designed to
develop professional skills in project management and leadership. In the final year, students can
choose modules to develop their business knowledge further and have the opportunity to develop a
career specialism by choosing modules aligned to their personal interests.

The BA (Hons) Business and Management programme can be studied full time or part time and provides a broad framework in which students can apply themselves to a wide range of practical and theoretical modules which reflect current issues in business and contribute to their future employability. The key elements of the programme are finance, economics, organisational behaviour, marketing and management.
Students will also undertake a learning process that embodies the values of UCNL’s student Scholarship, Engagement and Enhancement (SEE) initiative.

The requirements for applicants progressing from full-time education are 64 UCAS points/NVQ3 or equivalent level 3 qualification. Some applicants come through the experiential route (relevant work or life experience). We have a long and successful record of supporting mature students, many of whom left formal education some time ago.
