CATCH Careers Information Evening

Written by Sarah Heseltine

Those interested in becoming an engineer will be able to find out about Engineering provision delivered at CATCH in partnership with North Lindsey College, along with gain an insight into current apprenticeship vacancies and progression opportunities.

The event will be of interest to Year 11 students due to leave school this year, College-level students hoping to gain industry experience from September 2020, as well as individuals hoping to up skill or retrain.

Visitors will have access to two talks during the event, followed by a tour of the facilities including the electrical and mechanical workshops.

The CATCH Academy specialises in providing electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, science manufacturing and the pre-apprenticeship ITEC – Introduction to Engineering Construction programmes.

Bob Padley, Head of Engineering at CATCH Academy said, “The CATCH Academy offers contextualised learning for the next generation of engineers. Our facility provides the chance for learners to practice and perfect their skills in a safe environment where qualified engineers pass-on their knowledge and experience. The site is able to provide plant and process that replicates real industrial installations upon which our learners can carry-out maintenance and repairs.”

All courses have a focus on preparing students for employment and for apprenticeships with local employers.

The event is also open to employers, who wish to find out more about taking on apprentice or using apprenticeship to develop and up skill their existing staff, and to find out about funded or full cost training.

Short courses are also available in areas such as electrical, mechanical, health & safety, leadership and management, soft skills and process for employers to upskill their existing staff or for individuals looking to come into industry.

Director of CATCH Engineering Training Partnership (CETP) depicts, “The CATCH Academy is one of the delivery strands of the CATCH Engineering Training Partnership which combines the industry led engineering training of CATCH with the engineering apprenticeship delivery of the DN College Group. This gives us real focus as a specialist engineering provider to work with employers to train their workforce for the future across the Yorkshire and Humber region.”

Visitors are asked to pre-register for either a 5pm start or 6pm start. For more information about the event and to register visit: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/catch-information-evening-march-tickets-90128900969
