Drawing from the Level 1 Certificate in Health and Care, this course helps you build a strong foundation for understanding and supporting children and young people with SEND in educational or care settings.
As part of this course, you will gain the following qualification:
- Level 1 Certificate in Health and Care
We will explore…
- The different types of special educational needs and disabilities
- How to support individuals with empathy, patience and practical strategies
- The importance of inclusive practice and person-centred care
- Communication techniques and how to build positive relationships
- Basic health and care principles relevant to SEND environments
As part of this course, you will also have the opportunity to attend an employer talk.
Learners will complete a portfolio of work.
Learners must:
- Be aged 19+ as of 31/08/2025
- Currently live in England
- Have resided in the EU/UK for 3+ years for purposes other than study
Not be enrolled on an apprenticeship
Learners who complete this course could go on to study:
- Introduction to Autism – Classroom
- Level 2 Certificate in Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care – Online
- Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Autism – Online
- Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Working with People with Mental Health Needs – Online
With further training or experience, you could progress into roles such as:
- Care assistant
- Support worker
- Nursery assistant
- Classroom assistant
- Activities coordinator
Healthcare assistant (with additional training)
