North Lindsey College Officially Opens £40 Million State-of-the-Art Building

Posted: October 20, 2025

North Lindsey College proudly celebrated the official opening of its brand-new £40 million teaching facility on 16th October 2025, marking a major milestone in the continued transformation of the College’s campus.

The opening event brought together staff, students, governors, former Principals, and special guests who have played a part in the College’s journey over the years.
Chair of Governors Angela Briggs warmly welcomed attendees, highlighting the significance of the investment in supporting future generations of learners.

A highlight of the event was the ribbon-cutting ceremony, led by special guest and former North Lindsey College student, Cameron Lings – a contemporary artist and sculptor who studied Art and Design at the College before going on to become an award-winning emerging artist based in North Yorkshire.

Since achieving his MA in Fine Art from MIMA School of Art and Design in 2021, Cameron’s work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, featured in publications, and showcased through artist residencies at prestigious institutions including Yorkshire Sculpture Park, The BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art, and The Redbarn Artist Residency Programme in Ireland.

Reflecting on his return to North Lindsey, Cameron said: “I was flattered to receive the invitation and to be remembered in such a positive way. The new building marks an exciting new chapter for the College. A massive thank you for the invite, and huge congratulations to everyone involved in the project – it’s fantastic and will inspire future students for years to come.”

John Rees, CEO of DN Colleges Group, extended thanks to all who contributed to the success of the project, including the College Project Board, Governors, Director of Estates Les Kirk, who led the project, and BAM Construction. He also praised the invaluable opportunities provided to North Lindsey College students, particularly those in Construction, who gained real-world experience through site visits and work placements during the build. John also referenced upcoming developments that are in progress as part of the College’s future plans.

Guests were led on a tour of the new build by Travel and Tourism students who proudly showed off the three-story build which has been designed with both functionality and inclusivity in mind, providing modern general and specialist classrooms, administrative suites, and a dedicated SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) area with its own accessible entrance.

The ground floor features a multi-use auditorium alongside a spacious dining and kitchen area, creating a flexible environment for events, performances, and community activities — enhancing the overall student experience. Designed to accommodate up to 1,400 students and staff, the building has sustainability at its core and is designed to be net zero in operation.

The project was funded through the Government’s £1.5 billion Further Education Capital Transformation Fund, reinforcing the College’s commitment to delivering exceptional learning environments for future generations.
