Former Art and Design Student Leads by Example in the Creative Arts Industry

Sammy came to North Lindsey College to study a level 3 Extended Diploma in Art and Design before going on to study a BA (Hons) in Fine Art at Leeds Arts University.  Since leaving education, Sammy has gone onto work as a curator at Café Indie in Scunthorpe as well as undertaking numerous commissions and exhibitions as a freelance artist.

Sammy is also the founder of ‘Pop Up’, a gallery space based at Café Independent. Sammy regularly comes back to the College to support current students with their work, resulting in chosen students exhibiting with ‘Pop Up’ outside of the college.

Sammy said, “I have the College to thank for my success.  I help support the students at College with their networks to help them curate and get work experience which is vital to their artist practices.  The College has done so much for me.  I had the opportunity to do specialist workshops and it’s the reason why I have got to where I am now.”
