Nationally the number of apprentices has been on the decline, with 154,000 starts last year compared to 98,000 starts for 2019. North Lindsey College and Doncaster College are leading by example with over 2000 apprentices.
“The focus of apprenticeship delivery in 2018/19 is to improve the quality of service that our apprentices and their employers receive,” says Valerie Ayris (Director of Operations)
As the largest provider of higher apprenticeships in the region, DN Colleges offer a wide range of higher and degree apprenticeships, including engineering, health, construction and leadership and management and is already working with partners including Siemens, British Steel, Croda and Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust.
James Jellinek (Level 6 Degree Apprenticeship Student) said, “My line managers have already noticed the knowledge that has been brought about by the course. There is a genuine interest by the tutors to make sure what you are learning applies within your own organisation. There is a big emphasis throughout the modules to reflect on your own work practices and this in itself has also allowed me to understand my own behaviours in relation to specific situations. Obtaining the qualification will put me in the best possible position when applying for senior management roles within my organisation.”
The Group’s apprenticeship team focus on ensuring the provision meets local and regional needs across all key sectors in South Yorkshire, the Humber and Greater Lincolnshire. DN Colleges Group continues to grow its provision in response to employer demand, which already extends out towards West Yorkshire, supporting the recruitment of new staff and the development of existing managers and staff.
