North Lindsey College proudly marked National Apprenticeship Week with record-breaking attendance at a dynamic programme of events delivered across the DN Colleges Group throughout the dedicated week.
The celebrations brought together apprentices, employers and staff from across the College, showcasing the transformative impact apprenticeships have on individuals, businesses and the wider economy.
DN Colleges Group, is one of the largest apprenticeship providers in England, supporting more than 2,400 apprentices and working in partnership with over 1,000 employers across a broad range of sectors.
This year’s National Apprenticeship Week theme focused on ‘Skills for Life’ which involved employers, apprentices and staff. Some of the activities held included a well-attended employer breakfast, alongside open events designed to inform prospective apprentices about how they can develop valuable skills and build rewarding careers. Apprenticeship staff also presented employer partners with certificates in recognition of their continued support for young people and commitment to apprenticeship programmes.
The week also showcased a range of competitions and skills activities, celebrating excellence and promoting the sharing of best practice across curriculum areas. Electrical apprentices put their technical abilities to the test in a lively ‘wire a plug’ speed challenge, demonstrating both precision and professionalism under pressure.
Collaboration between departments was another standout feature, with Health and Social Care apprentices delivering CPR training to MOET apprentices, who in turn shared their expertise in brazing techniques, a strong example of partnership and peer learning in action. Level 5 Health and Social Care apprentices also recorded a podcast discussing their views on being mature apprentices.
A further highlight of the week was a visit from Dame Diana Johnson to the Humber Skills Training Academy in Hull, where she met apprentices and staff to see first-hand the skills and innovation being developed.
Kathy Bennett, Director of Apprenticeships at DN Colleges Group, said: “Apprenticeship Week is a celebration of the skills, resilience and growing confidence of our apprentices, and of the dedicated staff who guide and support them. Together, we turn potential into achievement and ambition into lifelong opportunity.”
National Apprenticeship Week serves as a powerful reminder that apprenticeships create lasting impact, supporting economic growth, driving social mobility and fostering lifelong learning.
