Work has commenced on the Kingsway campus which will see a brand new three-storey teaching block to be a focal point of the new-look campus.
As part of phase one, a new nursery will be built on site to modernise the Kingsway Children’s Centre before work on the main campus will begin.
The new build will replace a number of existing buildings and increase capacity to enrol more students and it is hoped that it will be ready by the summer of 2025.
The new building will house general and specialist classrooms, along with administrative suites and a SEND area (specialist educational needs and disabilities) which will be created on the western side of the ground floor, with a separate entrance.
Also on the ground floor, an auditorium and a large-capacity dining and kitchen area, will be created. This area could also be used as for events or even performance space.
Barrie Shipley, the Chief Operating Officer at the College, said: “The College is working closely with the Department for Education to design and deliver a new campus main building that will consolidate and replace a number of smaller buildings and [the] current main campus building.
“The plans will significantly improve the condition of the North Lindsey Campus, and complements recent work upgrading facilities for the launch of T-Levels and the opening of University Centre North Lincolnshire and investment in the Institute of Technology.”
Money for the project is being provided from the Government’s £1.5bn further education capital transformation fund. North Lindsey College is one of 16 institutions to have benefited from the initial phase of funding.
