Just finished school and thinking about an apprenticeship, but not sure where to start? You’re not alone, and you’ve come to the right place.
We’ve simplified the process into six clear steps to help you confidently find and apply for an apprenticeship.
Step 1: Understand What an Apprenticeship Is
An apprenticeship is a paid job where you gain hands-on experience while studying part-time at college.
You will:
- Work for a real employer
- Attend college 1–2 days per week
- Earn a wage while training
- Achieve a nationally recognised qualification
Typical Levels for School Leavers:
- Level 2 (Intermediate) – Equivalent to 5 GCSEs
- Level 3 (Advanced) – Equivalent to 2 A-levels
Most apprenticeships last between 1 to 3 years, depending on the industry and level.
