North Lindsey College Health and Social Care tutor, Dave Thorpe, has officially added ‘author’ to his credentials after recognising the need for additional resources to better support students in their learning.
The staff member, who has worked in the Health & Social Care department at North Lindsey College for six and a half years, has produced a new workbook designed to support students studying on the T Level Health programme.
T Levels are two-year technical qualifications designed for students after GCSEs, offering an equivalent to three A Levels. Introduced in September 2020, they combine classroom learning at a school or college with hands-on industry experience, including 315 hours industry placement to develop real-world skills.
Dave was invited to contribute his expertise to the workbook following discussions with representatives of educational publisher, Hachette Learning. He felt the need to get involved after recognising the lack of resources to support the programme and students and was delighted with the end product. Dave said, “Being one of the first colleges to implement the new T Level Health course was definitely a learning curve. However, the knowledge and experience we developed from this has proven to be invaluable. Hopefully, with this revision guide, I can support students nationwide to maximise their chances of achieving the highest grades.”
The workbook serves as an essential resource for students embarking on their T Level programme of study and ensures that learners have access to up-to-date industry knowledge, real-world case studies, and practical insights to help them succeed in both their studies and future careers.
First year T Level student, Jess Harrison (16) said, “It will be good for revision and mean we could practice exam questions by having access to this. The workbook could help give us a greater understanding of the longer exam questions too.”
The workbook was published on the 28th February 2025, and is now available to purchase through various bookshops, such as Amazon, Waterstones and WHSmith. This makes it easily accessible to students, educators, and professionals looking to enhance their understanding of health and social care, particularly for those studying on the T Level Health course.
