Performing Arts Students Selected for National Theatre Connections Youth Festival 2025

Posted: April 2, 2025

For the second year in a row, Performing Arts students from North Lindsey College have been chosen to participate in the prestigious National Theatre Connections Youth Festival 2025.

NT Connections is an annual, nationwide youth theatre festival that celebrates the talent of young performers aged 13-19 from across the UK. Now in its 30th year, the festival has seen over 8,000 young people from 250 youth companies take part. Each year, NT Connections commissions new plays for young performers, and this year, North Lindsey College has been selected to bring one of these exciting productions to the stage.

Students will be performing Saba Swim, written by Daniusa Samal. The play follows a group of friends who are about to leave school when they receive an unexpected message. Seven months earlier, Saba mysteriously walked out of her GCSE mock exams and never returned. Now, on prom night, she finally reaches out, leading her friends on a journey through cryptic clues to find her.

Katie Maddison, who plays Saba, shared her excitement about the experience: “I have really enjoyed the process, and we are all really looking forward to taking it to a bigger stage.”

Having already performed at North Lindsey College, the students will now take their production to Cast Doncaster on 29th April as part of the NT Connections Festival. From there, ten groups will be selected to perform at The National Theatre in London in June 2025.

Programme Tutor Laura Dent praised the festival’s impact on the students, saying: “NT Connections is a wonderful opportunity for the students. Not only do they get to work with brand-new writing, but being part of a wider theatre community at the festival is really special.”
