A North Lindsey College alumnus is soaring in her dream career after gaining her wings for global aviation employer, Emirates.
Former Frederick Gough School student, Millie Borrill (21) excelled in her course and achieved a Level 3 Travel and Tourism qualification back in 2021.
“When I left college, I didn’t go straight into the aviation industry. It took me about three years to finally go for my dream job and dream airline,” said Millie.
Just two days after applying for the exciting role at an Emirates Open Day in Derby, Millie received the news that she had been successful and just weeks later, packed up her life and moved to Dubai to begin training. Millie’s career officially took off on November 23rd, 2023, where she completed her first long-haul flight from Dubai to Vietnam.
“It was surprising how intense the training really is and how much time and effort they put into us,” she said.
Emirates is the largest airline in the Middle East and is known world-wide for its luxury amenities, exceptional hospitality and recognisable cabin crew. Thinking long-term, Millie expressed that her goal is to progress in her role and eventually work in the luxurious First Class Suite.
Kayleigh Grierson, Curriculum Leader in Travel, Business and Catering at North Lindsey College said: “Millie was always a lovely student when on her Travel course. She was a student who pushed herself to have high standards in all aspects of her course. I am so excited for her to start her new journey within the aviation industry.”
When asked about her time studying at North Lindsey College, Millie said: “I chose to study at North Lindsey College because it is well known for its travel and tourism course and had a great simulator for practice.”
