This 18-month apprenticeship, delivered in partnership with North Lindsey College, is the first of its kind in the UK, to train individuals to become a fully qualified Industrial Coatings Applicators.
Training Manager for Jack Tighe Ltd John Whittaker said: “Our workforce is more mature, and we need to attract and train the younger generation to the prescribed standard to ensure business continuity. In this local area, employment is not abundant so to earn a good wage, get a career and a long-term future, is a great opportunity for the young people of this area.”
Apprentices work on-site for up to 6 week blocks on projects such as the MOD also projects for Network Rail and Hydro Electric Dams for SSE but to name a few, which along with the industrial experience broadens their horizons travelling to places throughout the UK.
The apprentices travel cost and accommodation allowances are met by the company when they must work away, they are also actively encouraged to get their driving licence and the company will give them £200 towards the costs of their driving lessons upon passing their driving test.
Jack Roddy aged 25, Industrial Coatings Apprentice said: “I would recommend doing this apprenticeship as you get to travel a lot and the pay is very appealing. I’m over the moon that I have now been employed by Jack Tighe.”
On completion of this apprenticeship, apprentices can go on to become, Sprayers, Blasters and can specialise into becoming an coating Inspector, with the added bonus of being able work anywhere in the UK and overseas within the painting industry.

Jack Tighe Ltd are now actively recruiting for their next cohort to start in October 2020 for the Industrial Coatings Applicator Apprenticeship and there are limited places available.
