North Lindsey College Celebrates GCSE Results Day

Posted: August 22, 2019

“Staff have put in a lot of support in place for students to improve their English and maths and we are delighted to see so many improve their grades,” said North Lindsey College Principal, Mick Lochran.

The College welcomed students back onto campus to collect their GCSEs with transformational results for many. Mature student Joanne achieved a grade 5 GCSE in English. Joanne is now going on to study a degree in social science at UCNL (University Campus North Lincolnshire) she said, “Definitely study at North Lindsey. The tutors are lovely and help you to achieve.”

The College offers extra support for those who have not achieved their necessary grades in English and maths to revisit the essential qualifications needed.  Students have shown extreme dedication working towards vocational programmes of studies in addition to resitting for their GCSEs with encouraging results.

Claudia Smith collected her results with a very pleasing outcome.  She achieved a grade 7 in GSCE maths and grade 6 in GCSE English.  Claudia spoke about her results and said, “The facilities at North Lindsey College were really good and the teachers made that extra effort to support you. In September I will be moving on to study hairdressing.”

Some of the students have been relying on particular grades to get them onto a programme of study at college or to complete their requirements for university.  For anyone needing advice or guidance for their future career moves; can make a free appointment with our impartial careers guidance team.

Mature students, Beverley Day (42) and Kathleen Midgley (43), both picked up a grade 4 in English and maths.  Beverley is going to study Access to Higher Education at the UCNL (University Campus North Lincolnshire) and Kathleen is pursuing a career in accounting.  They said, “Fabulous tutors and always helpful.  Nothing has ever been too much trouble.  It was also comforting to know that we was with other adults on the course and we all made new friends.”

For those looking to take these qualifications, the college is also offering GCSE evening courses starting from September 2019, for further information contact the Customer Services Team on 01724 281111.
