North Lindsey Recognise Student Success

The College welcomed special guest speaker Tom Bunday, who appeared on the Apprentice 2018, who shared his life story and the secrets to his success with the future professionals alongside presenting the awards.

The celebration provides the opportunity for students to celebrate their achievements with friends, tutors, peers and family. The College are proud of students’ successes this year, with the event also recognising staff and employers’ input.

Mick Lochran (North Lindsey College Principal) said, “One of the highlights of the year is celebrating students’ success and to hear their stories and their progression routes into Higher Education, Apprenticeships and employment.”

Sponsors of the awards who have close links with the College included: City and Guilds, 20-21 Visual Arts Centre, UCNL (University Campus North Lincolnshire), Halfords, The Baths Hall, Howarth Windows and Doors, Clixby Active Pro Sports, Curly’s Athletes, Scunthorpe Telegraph, Double Tree by Hilton Forest Pines Spa and Golf Resort, Nisa Retail, Rebekah Fenwick, Ongo, North Lincolnshire Council, Options Autism, Eve Taylor, Kingsway Children’s Centre, Schwarzkopf, Groomers, and Trent Valley Gliding Club.

Tom Bunday, television star and multiple business owner said, “Colleges like North Lindsey College give you the hands-on opportunity to get a trade and excel.  Age doesn’t matter, anyone can succeed.”

Tom continued, “Look for a demand and a niche in the area, keep trying and pushing. Get out of your comfort zone, push your social environment and become confident in yourself; people skills is a starting point.  Be genuine, be yourself and you can achieve.”

Student, William Parsons won an award on the evening for Outstanding Achievement, Sport and Uniformed Services and said, “I was surprised I won this award, it makes the hard work you put in worth it.  It’s good to celebrate this success, all the work is paid off and recognised.”
