Dance Professional Leads the Way

Posted: November 27, 2018

The Musical Theatre and Dance students were engaged by the professional who is
no stranger to the West End stage. His most recent role involved performing a lead
dance role in the CATS International Tour.

Daniel left his home town of Scunthorpe to join the Royal Ballet School in London
when he was only eleven years old and continued with his studies there until he was
sixteen. He has continued to work in the industry he is passionate about, but before
he started another round of auditions he took time out to come to North Lindsey
College to pass on his expertise.

Dan informed the group that when he attends any audition he will be required to
dance before he sings and based his workshop upon this. The students spent time
during the workshop completing a range of activities including corner work, with
supportive question and answer session before closing the workshop perfecting a
new a dance routine.

“When I was young there wasn’t enough opportunities for young people to perform. I
wanted to go back to my roots and back to my hometown to show others what you
can achieve,” said Dan. “The group have been very open to my style and the have
really pushed themselves. It’s been really enjoyable”

Hannah Leaning (Musical Theatre Student) said, “The session has been really hard
and fun although we have been pushed; it has been a privilege to be a part of it. We
have learnt to stay focussed and it has put it into perspective of how hard we have
got to work to get in the industry but Dan has shown that it is possible.”
