HND Construction and the Built Environment

The Higher National Diploma (HND) in Construction and the Built Environment covers the fundamental concepts, principles and theories of construction the built environment and extends these into multi storey construction techniques and their effective management.

This programme provides a practical and academic challenge within the framework of current industrial practices in construction. The final group project brings together all the skills developed into a live construction design proposal.

Year three

– Management for Complex Projects
– Surveying for Conservation, Renovation and Refurbishment
– Advanced Building Information Modelling
– Group Project (Pearson set)

You will normally be required to have achieved the BTEC National Certificate, Diploma, A level or NVQ/VRQ Level 3 qualification in a relevant subject area. If you hold significant practical experience or craft qualifications but not the usual Level 3 entry requirement, your application would also be considered.

You could progress on to the final level of a Degree in Construction and the Built Environment at various universities.
The Higher National programmes are an ideal vehicle for progression into construction and project management roles which include tendering and estimating, contracts management, project management, site management and cost control through quantity surveying.
