Level 1 Skills for Health and Social Care (Adults and Children)

Personalised to suit your needs, this programme will give you a broad introduction to health and social care. It will enable you to develop the personal skills and qualities required of a health and social care worker and prepare you to study at a higher level.

Units you may study include:
Service provision and roles
Principles and values
Equality and inclusion
Person-centred support
Employability skills

Ideally at least 4 GCSEs or an Entry Level 3 qualification, but this is subject to discussion at your interview. If you haven’t already achieved a GCSE grade 5 or grade C in English or Maths, then you will study either GCSE or Functional Skills English or Maths alongside your other qualifications.

Students may have the opportunity to study additional subjects and participate in sporting, social or enterprising activities. Examples of the various activities will be made available to you by your tutors; opportunities are varied and change each year.

We plan to offer work experience, employer talks, employer visits and other employer involvement in all our programmes.

After completing your course you could progress on to study a Level 2 or Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care. Alternatively, you could progress straight into employment in the health and social care sector or on to an apprenticeship. Studying health and social care could lead to a career as a nurse, health care professional, carer, social worker, paramedic, health care assistant, teacher and many other opportunities.

Reo Roberts I thoroughly enjoyed my health and social care course at college, it prepared me for university as it provided the gateway for the knowledge and skills I needed to progress.

Max Richardson The tutors were excellent and thats a large part of why I did so well. They helped me to access support and I completed my exams using a laptop.

Megan Hillon I really enjoyed studying the subjects alongside each other and my time at North Lindsey College.
