Level 3 Access to HE Diploma Humanities and Social Science

This programme is designed for individuals, aged 19+, who don’t already have a Level 3 qualification. It is perfect if you want to progress on to study for a higher education qualification in the future, such as a degree, foundation degree or higher national diploma.
The Humanities and Social Science route is appropriate for those wishing to pursue a career in social work, counselling, psychology, criminology and many more.

Units you may study include:
An introduction to sociology
An introduction to social policy
An introduction to psychology
Study skills
Personal professional development and communication
Employability skills

Ideally at least 5 GCSEs at grade 9-5 or A*-C including English and Maths or a Level 2 qualification, but this is subject to discussion at your interview. If you haven’t already achieved a GCSE grade 5 or grade C in English or Maths, then you will study either GCSE or Functional Skills English or Maths alongside your other qualifications.

Students may have the opportunity to study additional subjects and participate in sporting, social or enterprising activities. Examples of the various activities will be made available to you by your tutors; opportunities are varied and change each year.

We plan to offer work experience, employer talks, employer visits and other employer involvement in all our programmes.

After completing an extended diploma many of our students go on to study nursing, midwifery, social sciences or science at university. Studying health and social care could lead to a career as a nurse, health care professional, carer, social worker, paramedic, health care assistant, teacher and many other opportunities.
