Level 3 Diploma in Art and Design

Throughout the course, you will cover a broad range of subjects, developing your experience and skills in a range of art and design subjects such as drawing, painting, graphics, fashion, textiles, sculpture, printmaking, photography animation and three-dimensional design. The course will help you to develop the knowledge and experience you will need to build a portfolio of work and create a rewarding career in the creative art and design industry.
Our specialist and industry experienced tutors will work with you throughout the course to help you refine your skills and identify your specialism, in preparation for further study on the Extended Diploma course.

Introduction to critical and contextual awareness in art and design

Ideally at least 5 GCSEs at grade 9-5 or A*-C including English, Maths and a creative subject or a Level 2 qualification, but this is subject to discussion at your interview. If you haven’t already achieved a GCSE grade 5 or grade C in English or Maths, then you will study either GCSE or Functional Skills English or Maths alongside your other qualifications.

Students may have the opportunity to study additional subjects and participate in sporting, social or enterprising activities. Examples of the various activities will be made available to you by your tutors; opportunities are varied and change each year.

We plan to offer work experience, employer talks, employer visits and other employer involvement in all our programmes.

After completing your course you could progress on to study design, fine art, cinematics, film, photography, interior design, fashion or related fields at university. Alternatively, you could progress straight into employment including apprenticeships. Studying art and design could lead to a career as a graphic designer, fine artist, gallery or museum curator, printmaker, fashion designer, photographer, illustrator, sculptor and many other opportunities.
